Microsuction uses gentle suction with a low pressure suction machine and fine probe. Unlike ear syringing or ear irrigation, where ear wax is flushed out ‘blindly’, with ear wax removal using microsuction the ear wax is being directly viewed whilst it is being removed. This makes the procedure much quicker, safer and comfortable for the patient.

Ear wax removal typically takes between 10 to 25 minutes to perform. This can vary depending on the amount and type of of ear wax, how deep the ear wax is inside the ear, if instruments or microsuction is being used and whether you are having one or both ears treated.

• There is not always the need to apply ear drops for several days beforehand, which is the case with ear syringing or ear irrigation. Nonetheless, the use of olive oil drops is still recommended where possible for 1-2 days prior to having ear wax removal performed.

We also offer occasional regional appointments which are made available periodically depending on demand.

Our standard fee for ear wax removal is $160, which covers treatment for both ears in a single appointment in the comfort of your own home.

If a follow-up appointment is required to safely complete the wax removal, a reduced fee of $80 is applied when booked within 2-weeks.

Please note we are a private billing clinic, so we cannot bulk bill to Medicare. If you have 'Extras' cover with your Private Health Insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate depending on your level of cover.

If no wax is found, a reduced consultation fee of $60 applies to cover the ear health assessment, professional advice, and call-out time.
